Still, I tried Process Monitor, but either I'm not looking for the right thing, which is quite possible, or there aren't any file rights/permissions violations that Fallout 3 runs into.

Although, something else I should have noted, that I forgot to, is that it's fully up-to-date with all updates/patches as well. My setup: Vista Ultimate (64-bit), Fallout 3 installed to a non-Program Files directory (C:\games\Fallout 3), FOMM installed to a directory inside my Fallout 3 directory (C:\games\Fallout 3\fomm).Īs noted in the OP post, I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit), not Windows 7. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling FOMM, rolling back to the last FOMM version that could launch Fallout 3 for me (v0.9.x), disabling all of the mods I use, but nothing I've tried works.ĭoes anyone know of any issues with the latest Fallout 3 patches that can cause it to crash when launched from FOMM? The only thing that isn't working is launching Fallout 3 from FOMM. After tinkering with both Fallout 3 and FOMM I've come to the conclusion that both Fallout 3 (including with mods setup by FOMM) and FOMM seem to be working fine.

FALLOUT FOMM CRASH UPDATE

Fearing that the Fallout 3 update had broken something, I tried launching it using its own icon and it started up and ran fine. I tried a few more times and Fallout 3 crashed every time. Fallout 3 opened a small window and immediately crashed with a 'Fallout 3 has stopped working' message. So, I updated Fallout 3 (to v1.7) and FOMM (to v0.11.9), ran FOMM to check that my load order was still OK, and clicked the Launch Fallout button. Anyway, I recently got the urge to play again, so I decided to check if there were any updates to Fallout 3 and FOMM, which there were. If you have problems with that guide or xNVSE, both have discord servers with people that can lend you a hand.I was using FOMM v0.9.x with Fallout 3 v1.0.015 (pre-DLC AFAIK) and everything was working fine - I hadn't played in a while, as you can tell from the version numbers.

FALLOUT FOMM CRASH INSTALL

My advice: Make a clean, fresh install of Fallout New Vegas (yes, a drag, but better to start from 0 with steady steps just in case) and follow this guide: Someone recommending NMM sounds like someone following Sinitar's guide to me.

FALLOUT FOMM CRASH MOD

FOMM installs and REPLACES files unlike MO2 or Vortex, if you want to uninstall a mod that replaced a file then you're screwed, and would have to verify files integrity, or keep notes and backups of those files (which defeats the purpose of a mod manager). NMM is out of date, even if there's a community version it's just not good, it was dropped by Nexus for some reason. XNVSE is now 6.1.3, and a lot of mods were updated to use new featurs from 6.1.0, so having 6.0.8 will mean you'll definetly have problems. Both are up to date and mantained to this day, but there's a TON more of support for MO2 since a lot of people hate on Vortex. Originally posted by neorayne62:A mod manager, Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM Fork) Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) or Vortex, whatever floats ya boat.īro recommending FOMM and NMM is a bad joke.
